Executive Committee

The district is an independent charity operating within the federated structure of the Scout Association and governing document. Members of the Executive Committee act collectively as charity trustees of the District Scout Council, and in the best interests of the district and its members.

The District Executive Committee plays an important role in the running of the district. The Committee makes decisions and carries out administrative tasks to make sure that the best quality Scouting can be delivered to young people in the district.

Membership of the Executive Committee is set up in a way that ensures the interests of the district and the District Commissioner are represented and balanced. It also ensures a broad membership, made up of four types:

  • Ex-officio

  • Elected

  • Nominated

  • Co-opted


David

District Chair

David chairs the District Executive Committee, making sure that it fulfils its responsibilities within the district. He is a non-uniformed member and works closely with Jason, the District Commissioner to achieve the purpose of the Scout Association and the development of local Scouting, in accordance with the policy, organisation and rules of the Scout Association.

Jason

District Commissioner

Jason provides overall leadership and management to the District, Group Scout Leaders and other members of the District Team. He supports the district to run efficiently, effectively and safely, and that Scouting develops in accordance to the rules and policies of the Scout Association. He is also the parent of an Explorer Scout.

Nick

District Treasurer

Nick keeps us right on all things financial. He is a non-uniformed member and provides financial administration, support and information to the Executive Committee and District in accordance with the rules and policies of the Scout Association and our legal obligations under the Charity Commission. He is also Chair of a group within the district.

David

District Secretary

David supports the Chair, ensuring the smooth functioning and sound administration of the district in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association. He is a non-uniformed member.

Phil

District Explorer Scout Commissioner

Phil contributes to the running of the district by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in the Scout Association’s policy, organisation and rules.

Finlay

District Youth Commissioner

Finlay contributes to the running of the district by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in the Scout Association’s policy, organisation and rules. As well as being our Youth Commissioner, he is an Assistant Section Leader within the district.

Margaret

Executive Committee Member

Margaret contributes to the running of the district by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in the Scout Association’s policy, organisation and rules. She is also ADC Cubs and a Cub Leader within the district.

Neil

Executive Committee Member

Neil contributes to the running of the district by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in the Scout Association’s policy, organisation and rules. He is a non-uniformed member and the parent of a Cub within the disitrct.

Keith

Executive Committee Member

Keith contributes to the running of the district by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in the Scout Association’s policy, organisation and rules. He is a Group Scout Leader within the district.

Alison

Executive Committee Member

Alison contributes to the running of the district by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in the Scout Association’s policy, organisation and rules. She is also the parent of a Cub, Scout and Explorer Scout, and a Beaver and Cub Section Leader within the district.

Kerry

Executive Committee Member

Kerry contributes to the running of the district by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in the Scout Association’s policy, organisation and rules. She is also the parent of an Explorer Scout, and Scout Section Leader within the district.
