Our groups
There are five groups, an Explorer Scout Unit and a Scout Network within the District. Each group is different and offers a variety of opportunities for young people across Derwentside. 1st Consett and 1st Blackhill share a building in Consett and the Explorer Scout Unit have a base in 2nd Annfield Plain's building and meet at locations around the district.
Scouting in Derwentside is very popular so many groups have waiting lists. Take a look at our group pages and complete the Membership Query Form, indicating the group or groups you are interested in. If they do not currently have places available, you may be offered a place at an alternative group.
There are opportunities for groups to come together as a district for activities and nights away. This gives them the opportunity to meet other Scouts and take part in larger events and activities.
Similarly, there are opportunities for groups in the 14 districts that make up Durham County Scouts, to take part in large events and activities.
