District powerboat

Our district currently has a 5.8m RIB, "Explorer", moored at Hartlepool Marina. The main target groups are Scouts and Explorers.

There are two options for running a session:

• Ask if someone within our district who has the relevant permit and who is authorised to command "Explorer", is able run a session for you and they will help where they can, or

• Run your own session if you have someone with the relevant permit, they have been through our standard operating procedure briefing on the use of the RIB and equipment and they have been authorised by the District Lead Volunteer.

Only those authorised by the District Lead Volunteer are able to command "Explorer". Authorisation will be subject to a relevant permit, a log showing recent relevant experience in a similar type of boat, a valid Marine Radio SRC and successful completion of a familiarisation session.

Badge work

This activity could be a one-off or work towards these badges.

Cost

RIB taster sessions last approximately 3-4 hours.

£35 per person (Based on 4 youth members). Transport to and from Hartlepool can be arranged for an additional cost here.

No leader or permit holder to accompany your scouts/explorers? No problem as these can be provided, subject to availability, to run the activity.
