District Team

Our District Team is there to lead, support and develop Scouting within our District. They review the progress, standards and effectiveness of programmes within Groups, Explorer Scout Units and the District Scout Network.

Our District Team is deliberately lean as our approach is to support a self-sustaining model of groups working together and supporting each other. Our District provides advice and guidance, brokers support from other groups, districts or the county where needed and, where necessary, will provide direct intervention and support.

Jason

District Commissioner

Jason provides overall leadership and management to the District and supports Group Scout Leaders and other members of the District Team. He helps the District run efficiently, effectively and safely, and that Scouting develops in accordance to the rules and policies of the Scout Association. 

Ian

District Explorer Scout Leader

Ian works in partnership with Jason and groups to lead the effective operation of the Explorer Scout Section in Derwentside in accordance with the rules as laid down in Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

Group Scout Leaders are volunteers, appointed by the District Commissioner, to manage everything that goes on in their group with the help of a team of volunteer leaders and supporters. 

They are responsible for helping the group to run effectively, efficiently and safely in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scout Association.

District Nights Away Advisor

Bryan works in partnership with Jason, leaders and groups to support in the development and technical assessment for Nights Away Permits. He advises on all technical aspects relating to planning and delivering nights away.

Kerry

District Leader

Kerry works in partnership with Jason, leaders and groups to support activities using district resources. She is currently leading on the development of a District Archery Team and supporting those Explorers who undertake archery as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Olly

District Leader

Olly works in partnership with Jason to support activities using district resources, including air rifles, climbing and powerboating. He is a member of Network, a range safety assistant, a budding target shooter and aspiring powerboat driver!

Seb

District Occasional Helper

Seb works in partnership with Jason to support activities using district resources, including target shooting, climbing and powerboating. He is a member of Network, the District Target Shooting Squad and a range safety assistant.
