The contents of this website are the copyright of Derwentside District Scout Council and may only be used for scouting purposes within Derwentside

The website of Derwentside District Scout Council has been set up to:-

· Provide information for existing members and their parents

· Help in the recruitment of new members by providing a visually exciting and easy way of finding out information about each section

· Allow groups within the district to have their own web pages linked to the District site.

Rules for the use and publishing of information on the website are as follows:-

· All items for publishing to the website must be submitted to the website coordinator.

· A disclaimer “the views expressed on the website are not necessarily those of the scout association” and copyright statement “the contents of this website are the copyright of Derwentside District Scout Council” must be visible on the Home Page.

· Care must be taken when using clip-art or pictures and information from any source, including other websites, to ensure that copyright is not being broken

· Links to other websites should only be to their homepage, unless the link is to scoutbase.org.uk.

Child Protection and Personal Information

· When using photographs of young people, parents must be given the opportunity to request that their child’s picture is not used. This should be done using the Derwentside District Scout Council’s form, and by having a clear statement on permission forms “photographs taken at this activity may be used for publicity purposes, including use on the district website. Please tick if you DO NOT wish photographs of your son / daughter to be used for this purpose”.

· Full names of young people or their contact information must not be used.

· Captions on photographs should not identify people in the photographs

· Any information requested via email (e.g. Information on meeting times of a group) can only be sent to a postal address, NOT an e-mail address or mobile phone etc.

· Any information received, such as addresses, will only be used for the purposes of Derwentside District Scout Council to send out information.
