The best, most exciting and most vibrant Scout Groups are the ones which enjoy good support from all of their parents. All Leaders in Scouting are volunteers. Many of them started when their children joined and they saw how exciting Scouting can be.

You may think you have nothing to offer, but you’d be surprised. Helping out in any of the ways mentioned below will enable us to provide a better Scouting experience for your children:-

Supporting Group Events - We hope parents will try to support fund raising events, such as fairs and coffee mornings, and help out with transport on trips out if needed.

Become a Parent Rep – One of the most important roles in the Scout Group! All Scout Groups have an executive committee, which is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Group. It is this committee which enables the Leaders to run an exciting programme of activities for the children. We are always in need of parents who can join these committees. You could also choose to become more involved by becoming a Group secretary, treasurer or fundraiser. The committees usually meets four to six times per year.

Help at Section Meetings - The fun and excitement of Scouting can be infectious. We are always delighted when parents want to join in the fun of our weekly section meetings. You could help occasionally, demonstrate or teach a skill or hobby you have, or help with a particular badge. You may also decide to help on a more regular basis, especially once you’ve experienced the adventure of Scouting. Our leadership team appreciate any assistance you can give which helps them deliver a better and more exciting program of activities. (All adults working directly with the young people will need to complete a CRB check).

Help with maintenance and cleaning - Our headquarters take a lot of punishment. Occasionally we will have working days or weekends to clean and repair them and keep them safe for the children.

WE REALLY DO NEED YOUR HELP! Without the help and support of parents we would, literally, not be able operate, and we are grateful for any help you can give.
