Beaver section header
Beaver Scouts are the youngest section in the Scouting family. They are boys and girls aged between 6 and 8 years old who like having fun and making friends. Beaver Scouts usually meet once a week as a "Colony", which is run by trained, voluntary leaders and helpers. Many of these are parents of Beaver Scouts.
Beaver Scouts activities are based upon a Balanced Programme which ensures that all young people experience a quality programme covering a wide range of subjects.
All Beaver Scouts will have the opportunity to:
·
Have fun
·
Make friends
·
Try new things
·
Keep the Promise
·
Make progress
·
Gain badges
·
Share in groups

Some Colonies attend indoor sleep overs in suitable buildings, which are a great way of developing new skills, enhancing friendships and building confidence.

How do I join?
Take a look at the groups page to find the nearest Beaver Colony to where you live. You can then call in to the Beaver Scout colony meeting and speak to a leader, or you can email us and we will arrange for the Beaver Scout leader to contact you.
Please note, due to the popularity of Scouting, most Beaver Scout Colonies operate a waiting list so your son / daughter may not be able to start going along straight away. The Beaver Scout Leader will be able to advise you of current waiting times.
Most groups will be happy to let a parent / guardian stay for the first night so you can be sure they are settled.
What do they wear?
The uniform consists of:
Ÿ
Turquoise Blue long sleeved sweatshirt
Ÿ
Group Scarf (provided by the Group)
Ÿ
Navy Blue activity trousers (optional)

You can also buy a polo shirt as an option for activity wear. Please speak to a leader for advice before you buy uniform. They can also apply for grants to help parents pay for uniforms.
